Role Description
MU Sports Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and highly motivated Position Coach to join our high-performance football program. This role is responsible for the technical development of athletes within a specific position group and plays a critical role in the execution of the academy's player development model. The successful candidate will be an effective teacher, mentor, and leader who can break down complex movements and football concepts into clear, actionable instruction. Position Coaches work closely with the Coordinator and Head Coach to ensure athletes receive consistent, high-quality coaching that aligns with the program's standards and objectives.
Responsibilities

Lead the development of athletes within an assigned position group.

Deliver technical instruction focused on position-specific skills, fundamentals, and football IQ.

Teach and reinforce proper movement patterns, techniques, and game concepts.

Assist in the planning and execution of practices, drills, and skill development sessions.

Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.

Support game preparation through film review, opponent analysis, and position-specific planning.

Collaborate with coordinators and coaching staff to ensure consistency across the program.

Foster a culture of accountability, discipline, and competitive excellence.

Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes.

Participate in games, team meetings, camps, showcases, and special events as required.
Qualifications

Minimum collegiate-level playing experience required.

Previous coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, prep school, or elite youth level is considered an asset.

Strong technical understanding of position-specific skills and player development.

Ability to analyze movement, identify areas for improvement, and design effective drills and teaching progressions.

High level of motivation, professionalism, and accountability.

Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to contribute positively within a collaborative coaching environment.

Availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional travel as required.

NCCP certification (or willingness to obtain) is considered an asset.
