Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Defensive Coordinator located in the Greater Montreal Metropolitan Area. The Defensive Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing defensive strategies, planning and overseeing practices focused on individual and team defensive performance, and analyzing game footage to optimize tactics. The role also includes mentoring athletes to enhance discipline, teamwork, and football IQ, collaborating with other coaching staff to ensure a cohesive team strategy, and adhering to the academy's values and objectives in student-athlete development.
Qualifications

Proven experience in defensive strategy planning, player development, and game analysis for football teams

Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills to foster athlete growth

Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with coaching staff and athletes

Expertise in understanding NCAA and U SPORTS eligibility and competition standards

Knowledge of modern football strategies, formations, and trends

Ability to work on-site in Greater Montreal Metropolitan Area with a flexible schedule

Previous coaching experience at the collegiate is an asset

Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field preferred

NCCP certification (or willingness to obtain) is considered an asset.
Responsibilities

Design, implement, and oversee all aspects of the defensive system and game strategy.

Plan and lead defensive meetings, practices, and game preparation.

Conduct opponent scouting, film analysis, and game planning.

Develop and mentor student-athletes through technical instruction, performance feedback, and leadership development.

Collaborate with the Head Coach and coaching staff to ensure alignment across all areas of the program.

Monitor athlete progress and contribute to player evaluations and development plans.

Support recruitment, athlete assessments, camps, and showcase events.

Build positive relationships with athletes, families, and academy stakeholders.

Uphold and model the standards, values, and culture of MU Sports Academy.
